Story :
Who would not dream of having his rear lights as new, especially if you have managed to get nice new covers.
So let´s fulfill our dreams and indulge ourselves in a beautiful gleam...
All you need is at least one pair of lights, which needs to be taken apart. If you have more pairs, you can take apart all of them and later pick the best pieces and save yourselves some work.

Take the lights apart, only the metal part is now the important one.

This part is usually dirty and oxidized. Take the grinder and grind the individual rivets, which hold the light reflectors. Take the reflectors out. If you have more than one pair of lights, choose the best reflectors. If you don't persist on having the reflectors in exact order, you can put in the deepest ones and that gives you later the choice of using a two-filament bulb. If you persist on using the original, don´t forget to mark down where each reflector goes.
First what you can do for the reflectors is to carefully grip them into a vice and clean them with a wire brush to get rid of the worst mess.
Now take the sandpaper, wrap it onto the reflector and polish it gradually by puling the ends of the sandpaper.
Start with a coarser sandpaper and continue to a number 600.

Some reflectors can stay intact inside, other you can polish inside with sandpaper. That is bit harder.

If you don´t have fear for your fingers, you can catch the reflectors through washers onto a screw, screw into a drill, drill into the vice, turn it on and start grinding..
This way you can do it easily outside and inside.
Take the whole lot into a plating shop and here you can get it nickel, zinc or chrome plated.

I paid 200Kc for a pair of lights (2005).
Now you only need to rivet the lights together, put new covers on and mount them onto the car..
